PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- As the auto workers strike rolls on, is now the time for you to buy?
KDKA's John Shumway checked in with the folks who write the book on car values.
The car market is continuing to evolve and the strike is having an impact on both sales and service.
There's no question that the COVID-19 pandemic created a sellers market as prices soared, but now, things are cooling.
Kelley Blue Book Editor Brian Moody says that despite the ongoing strike, there is an abundance of cars right now when it comes to new and used both, with plenty out there to pick from.
Moody says that while many of the big three plants may be idle, there's a backlog of inventory.
"For new car shoppers, I would go look right now for sure," Moody said. "Especially if you know you're going to get a domestic automakers large SUV or truck that's that would go look at those right away."
Because there is no way to know how long the strike or supply will last, and if you know your car is going to need some work and parts, Moody says to do it now.
"If the strike continues, parts are something that's going to suffer," Moody said.
Moody also points out that Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Tesla, and others are not impacted.
When it comes to trying to find the value of your current set of wheels, Moody says to be honest about the condition of the car.
When it comes to trying to sell your car, Moody says to search online and see what kind of prices your vehicle is selling for.
