An Elgin woman faces a misdemeanor driving under the influence charge after police say her vehicle went off the road in Bartlett early Saturday morning and struck a sign and several parked cars at an auto dealership.
Brenda Mendoza, 19, also was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle after the crash, which occurred about 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of Lake Street and Naperville Road, police said.
Bartlett police said Mendoza was driving a 2009 Honda CRV west on Lake Street when it went off the roadway and struck the Elgin Toyota monument sign, as well as vehicles in the parking lot.
Mendoza was released on a $3,000 individual bond and is scheduled to appear in Cook County court on May 31.
