Dick’s Auto Group, a prominent Hillsboro company, has sold three of its Hillsboro dealerships to a Spokane company. They will now operate under the Ron Tonkin Auto Group umbrella.
Gee Automotive, which bought Tonkin in 2017, purchased Dick’s Chevrolet, Ford and Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealerships. Company owner Ryan Gee did not disclose terms of the sale but said that the company planned to retain all the current employees at those dealerships.
All three dealerships will be rebranded under the Tonkin name.
Dick’s will retain its Honda and Hyundai dealerships, both in Hillsboro. It will also continue with its acquisition of Canby Ford, which it purchased in January, according to Dick’s spokesperson Josh Tompkins.
Dick’s Auto Group was founded by Richard Inukai in 1985. Inukai’s adult children, Scott Inukai and Shannon Inukai-Cuffee, took over the business after his passing in 2011.
