VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton golf team hosts the Matthews Auto Intercollegiate this Sunday and Monday at the Links of Hiawatha. The two-day tournament, which was not held last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, begins on Sunday.
The Bearcats, who have won the event in 2014 and 2018, are one of 12 team entered this weekend. They are joined by Canisius, Colgate, Cornell, Dartmouth, Hamilton, La Salle, Monmouth, Mt. St. Mary's, Niagara, Temple and St. Joseph's.
With nine golfers on its current roster, Binghamton will field two teams. It's top five golfers will be on the A Team while the other four will compete for the B Team.
Graduate student Justin Lane is one of four Binghamton golfers making their final appearance in the Matthew Auto Intercollegiate. In 2018, he tied for medalist honors with teammate Zach Ottman.
Fellow graduate student Nacho Glagovsky has a pair of Top-10 finishes at the Matthews Auto Intercollegiate. He tied for seventh in 2018 and eighth the following year. In his freshman year, Glagovsky tied for 18th place.
Senior D.J. Griffiths was fifth in 2018.
The first round begins on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. followed by Monday's final round at 9 a.m.
